Cookie's Lost!
Dad grabbed the leash from a hook.
“Cookie, come here!” called dad.
Cookie bounced down the steps and skidded to a stop at dad’s feet.
“Arf arf!” Cookie barked loudly as he wagged his tail.
“ Good boy!”exclaimed dad.
Dad clipped the leash on Cookie and tugged softly.
“Let’s go boy!” dad exclaimed.
Dad sat down on the bench and started texting his best friend. Then he got up and walked around the park. Then he realized that the leash was so light. He looked down and Cookie was gone!
Dad sat down on the bench and started texting his best friend. Then he got up and walked around the park. Then he realized that the leash was so light. He looked down and Cookie was gone!
“Cookie,” yelled dad. “Where are you?!”
After lots of looking he just turned around and walked away.
He walked back full of guilt and sorrow. He told mom everything that happened. Then Alice and her older sister Janice flew down the stairs.Janice went straight to the tv and plopped down on the couch.Alice noticed that Cookie wasn’t with dad.
“Where is Cookie?” asked Alice with a puzzled look on her face. She stared at the empty leash then looked up at dad waiting for an answer.
“I lost him.” muttered dad looking down at the leash then Alice.
“What!” yelled Alice while a river of tears were streaming down her face. She climbed up the stairs and threw herself on the bed.Later her older sister Janice came in and comforted her.
“Dad told me everything.”Janice told Alice.
“We will find him.”Janice whispered to Alice.
“We will find him.”Janice whispered to Alice.
The next day, Alice and her family made posters and hung them all around town. Janice was out with some of her friends.Just then a shadow of a dog came closer and closer but then she realized it was just Aunt Martha and her dog Daisy.
“Martha!” exclaimed mom while she squeezed Aunt Martha.
“So you’re looking for Cookie huh?”she asked while clutching the leash in one hand and coffee in the other. Mom nodded her head as she turned around to look at Alice.
“Well, I’ll see what I can do.” Aunt Martha replied as she walked away with Daisy.
After a few days, Alice went out on a walk with her dad when all of a sudden she heard a jingle from beneath her toes. She looked down and saw Cookie’s collar. From the corner of her eye she spied paw prints. Nevertheless she crawled around and followed the paw prints.
“Hey Alice, where are you going?” asked dad.
Suddenly the trail just stopped. Then she turned around and slouched back home.
“It’s ok Alice.” mom told Alice as she walked through the door and told her everything.
“Someone probably took Cookie to the vet.” she exclaimed as dad walked through the door.
One day mom and dad went somewhere in town but didn’t tell us where. After a while they came back home. Alice raced down the stairs and squeezed mom.
“Mom!” Alice exclaimed.
Then the door swung open and dad came in carrying some kind of cage with a white cloth covering it. Dad placed the cage down and looked at me.
“What’s in there?” Alice asked with a puzzled look on her face as she tilted her head
“You’ll have to find out.” dad replied.
Alice lifted the cloth and threw it on the floor. When she saw what was in their she was speechless.
It’s fur was soft and silky and it was as white as snow.
“Another dog!”yelled Alice.
Dad nodded and didn’t say anything.
“I’ll name it Snow.”she announced.
Just then Alice heard footsteps bounding down the stairs and Janice asked,
“What’s all the ruckus?” “I’m trying to read!” she yelled.
Then Janice sees Snow and walks over to her.
“AWWWWW!” exclaimed Janice. “So cute!”
Janice patted Snow on the head. She got Cookie’s ball and threw it across the room while Snow chased after it.
The next day Janice and Alice were playing with Snow and mom was cooking lunch. Then the doorbell rang and Aunt Martha barged in with a box and placed it down and rushed out the door as she waved “Enjoy!”
Alice got up and opened the box.
“Cookie!” Alice cheered. “I missed you!”
Cookie and Snow’s eyes locked. They sniffed each other then started to play and run around the room.Alice finally got Cookie back.
